Winter, Cold Weather, and Clarity
For clarity in your photos, the cold of winter is one of the best times available! You will consistently get sharper, cleaner-looking outdoor photos in winter than at any other time of the year. Why?
Cold and Clarity in your Camera
Here are the reasons why you get crisp, sharp photos in winter months:
- Digital camera sensor noise decreases with decreasing temperature. It’s cold, so you have less noise in every photo! Newer cameras have better sensors that are less susceptible to temperature and noise, but they still perform better when cold.
- Air holds less water vapor when it is cold. This means the air between you and your subject is without moisture and without obstruction. There is a clear path with no haze in the air, so your photos turn out clearer!
So stop complaining about the cold weather and get out there and shoot those clear shots in the cold of winter! With the clarity you will get in your photos, you’ll be glad you did!
